Sundown Studios: Info/Studio Musician

Sundown Studios

Sundown Studios and Sundown Productions

24-Track Control Room

Sundown Studio’s was formed in Central Kentucky in 1996. A dream in which my father Joe Price invisioned. He bought out an old analogue recording studio and we placed it in my upstairs bedroom. I played with it for several years until we decided we needed more room and we built Sundown Studios. My father, brother, contractor Jim Lawson and myself. It was an analogue studio until the year 2000 then we sold the analogue equipment and went Digitalogue the best of both worlds. I bought the house and studio in 2003 and have been running it ever since. It is a hobby and not a job. I have been engineering since the age of eight and do not claim to be a certified engineer, but I think my experience through the years with analogue, Digital, Musicician goes a long way. It is a 24-Track Production Studio. It consist of a comfortable control room, a laid back music room, drum isolation booth and a vocal isolation booth. Sundown Studios records commercials, music productions, sound design, audio sweetening, mastering and duplication. Backed with over 10 years experience Sundown’s employees have the knowledge and capability to fit any and all of your project needs. They are Central Kentucky’s number one audio suite. Sundown has recorded over one hundred and fifty bands in which two were signed to Atlantic Records.
Our control room
consist of Behringer 24-track Euro-Desk Recording Console. 3 Alesis Adat XT’s for recording the media. Our rack system features the 8 channel Presonous gate/compression module. ART Tube amp to add warmth to any instrument. Our Composer module allows us to record a wave form at any decibel and keep it there with no bouncing or clipping. We have digital and non-digital multi-effect units such as the digital Zoom reverb system, the ART digital reverb and then there the TAPCO which is a vintage reverb system in which the reverb is produced naturally through sound coils. We also have the BBE Maximizer for the pre-mixdown. And the Antres Auto pitch finder helps to make sure every note is fine tuned. Mastering is available using Sound Forge 6.0 and Adobe Audition. We have literally thousands of plugins that will blow you away!
Sundown is also an Audio Engineer on the go. Need live sound mixed Sundown has set rates that will fit your needs. This goes for movie productions to bands on the go playing live venues.
Need just mastering done we have set rates for those as well. Very Affordable!

Brian Himes - Studio Musician/Song Writer

Two time winner of the Lexington Blues Challenge Bryan is a dynamic, energetic performer!!!!!! Check out some of his tunes from "Lookin' For RL" and you can experience the energy and the passion.

The energy and excitement he brings to the stage is infectious.

Bryan is an extremely talented singer/songwriter who began his musical career in Lexington in the early '90s with a local group "Plume". After that group disbanned he honed his skills in the clubs and streets in Nashville before returning to Kentucky.

Bryan's influences are varied - stretching from the Delta Blues to Dylan, Young, and Hendrix. He plays a wicked slide guitar and his vocals are powerful.

Check out his some of his music at cdbaby.
